Blyp — Privacy Policy

How Blyp handles your information.

Last updated: 8 August 2026

The short version

Blyp is a messaging app that works on your device. Your messages and contacts stay on your phone. Blyp does not require an account, does not sell your data, and does not upload your messages or contacts to any server operated by us.

Information Blyp accesses

To function as a messaging app, Blyp needs access to certain information. This information is used only on your device to provide the app's features.

SMS & MMS messages

As your default messaging app, Blyp reads, receives, sends and displays your text and multimedia messages. Messages are stored in your device's system message store. Blyp does not transmit your messages to us.

Contacts

Blyp reads your contacts to show names and photos next to conversations and to let you pick a recipient. Contact data stays on your device.

Notifications

Blyp shows notifications for new messages, with optional quick actions (copy code, quick reply, mark read).

Phone number / SIM

On dual-SIM devices, Blyp reads the subscription used for a message to show which SIM it belongs to.

On-device smart features

Blyp's smart features — message categorisation, one-time-code detection, and smart replies/actions — run on your device. When "Smart features" is enabled, an on-device language module may be downloaded in the background through Google Play services to power smart actions. You can turn Smart features off at any time in Settings; the app continues to work normally, and the module is not required for messaging.
